OUTDOOR WEDDING, SINTRA
At About Events we love planning weddings all over the country, but we have a special passion for Sintra. Why Sintra? Because Sintra is one of the ideal places in Portugal to plan and make a charming outdoor wedding happen. And so, our adventure began.
When I met Nicole and Cam for the first time, they intended to have their Portugal wedding in a specific venue. But for technical reasons this was not possible. Our challenge started here. Finding the ideal venue for this couple, which fulfilled all the expectations they had created in relation to the first venue. Weeks of intense searches and meetings passed, but we finally found the ideal venue, one that met all the couple’s requirements. It was in Sintra, we could hold the ceremony and dinner outdoor and the venue is steeped in history, heritage, and old-world charm. Camélia Gardens is the name of this special venue.
We overcame the first obstacle, but we still had two more major challenges to overcome. Find the ideal venue for the welcome dinner and the perfect hotel for the couple getting ready. In the first, we had to overcome logistical difficulties, as Lisbon would be in chaos due to the Pope’s visit and in the second, we had to find a boutique hotel that would accommodate the couple’s closest family and the wedding party, but that would be exclusively for them.
Our team worked hard on this, but in the end the result couldn’t have been better. The location for the welcome cocktail would be a restaurant located on the seafront, with truly delicious food and the boutique hotel for getting ready was a pearl that our team discovered in the middle of the town of Sintra. All challenges met. We all breathed a sigh of relief.
The weeks and months passed, filled with choosing all the vendors, meetings and technical visits, until the big day arrived.
For our Outdoor wedding day design, we chose locations on the property that we know that Nicole and Cam will love and make the big day feel completely unique and special to the couple and all the guests. So, we placed the ceremony under a century-old tree and set up our chairs in a very special formation so
each guest could see the ceremony itself and the unparalleled beauty of the Sintra mountains. We see that the magic will happen when Nicole walked into the aisle and Cam’s eyes shone with happiness. What a moment!
After the emotions of the ceremony, we invited all guests to the cocktail area, next to the pool, where they would have cold drinks and some Portuguese gastronomic delicacies waiting for them. All this and much more was wonderfully recorded by a live portrait artist we had on that day. She made beautiful watercolors of all the guests in order to create a special, personalized gift for everyone.
For the reception, we chose to design a dinner party in the garden with the main house as a backdrop and with a celling of little lights. When the sun set and the night began to appear, magic happened and the stunning dinner began. Lots of laughs and emotions happened on this special night.
The dinner couldn’t end in a better way with the cutting of the cake and a tower of champagne that opened the crowd for the wild party that was to follow.
