LUXURY WEDDING DESTINATION, LISBOA
As destination wedding planners, we’ve been curating several luxury weddings for couples from all over the world, who choose Portugal to get married. But when we were first contacted by Laura from the USA, we knew this wedding was going to be different. This bride was an independent, sophisticated woman with very demanding taste. Used to traveling the world, Laura and Jim are true lovers of Lisbon. Now that they have decided to get married, they want to share the best that Portugal has to offer, with their close family and friends, who come from different parts of the world. And behold, the challenge is launched.
To the day before the wedding our team prepare a trip boat by the Tagus river in an exclusive boat, to show the sunset in Lisbon, view from the river. We received all guests with a welcome bag with some traditional Lisbon delicacies and the tour began to the sound of the playlist carefully chosen by the bride and groom. When the boat docked none of the guests wanted to leave. What a great party!
For the wedding day, our suggestion was a venue in Lisbon, which excels in elegance and good taste, as for this bride it would have to be something like this. Pestana Palace is a luxurious and elegant hotel with wonderful views to the Tagus River and is listed as a Portuguese National Landmark. An exuberant private park surrounds the grounds with an abundance of subtropical plants and trees presenting a magnificent panoramic vista over the city of Lisbon.
We knew we wanted to create an elegant, sophisticated and modern environment while honoring the traditional elements of the space. Throughout the ceremony and reception designs, we focused on some French inspiration, mixed with elegant lines and modern touches.
For our ceremony design, at one of the gardens, we positioned the chairs so that guests were always contemplating the classic lines of the building, at the same time, listening to the wonderful and fun ceremony.
After the ceremony, we chose to design a cocktail in the lake house, to the sound of a jazz band, while all the guests had fun and socialized.
For the reception, we chose to design the dinner in a magical area, in the old ballrooms of the Palace – named Valle Flôr. The Regency style that dictates the decor of the walls and ceilings, forced us to pay special attention to all the materials that we will use. Every single detail, from the texture of the linens to the tablespace, was inspired by the most fine art decor. During the dinner the guests could taste a new level of Portuguese cuisine that breathes palace inspiration and French rigor.
But the party didn’t end here and then, so that the guests could appreciate all the venue’s locations, we planned the cake cutting in the palace’s old stables, followed by a real party in the old library. And what a party we had!
