DOURO VALLEY WEDDING, DOURO
Hidden between the Douro River and the vineyards we find what many call “the heart of the Douro”, a small village called Pinhão. Here time and memories stopped, giving way to a charming silence, which these days is a true luxury.
When Rodrigo and Guilherme arrived to us, they wanted an intimate wedding in Portugal, on an elegant and very special place. Of course, it could only be in Pinhão, in a very specific venue, as here we would bring together the calm of the place, the elegance of this 5-star hotel and Portuguese gastronomy in its splendor.
Because this couple trust us to fully design and produce a one-of-a-kind day for their wedding in Portugal, the magic happens. For the ceremony, we wanted to create a romantic and elegant design, which was actually very easy as we had the fantastic Douro River as a backdrop. Nothing was left to chance and every detail was thought out so that everything was perfect, including personalized blankets for all guests, as it is, after all, the middle of winter. Et voilá, we had the ideal scenario for this luxury wine country wedding.
From years of experience as a destination wedding planner, we know that when you’re creating a wedding for special clients, like Rodrigo and Guilherme, details are everything. So after the ceremony, we would have to overcome another challenge, transforming one of the hotel’s rooms into an intimate, glamorous and cozy space, where dinner would take place.
We use some of our favorite reception elements include a custom-built green wall, hanging flowers and small string lights. Custom menus and place cards rested atop each place setting, blue goblets and some gold details. All of this with a lot of candles to create a luxe and elegant style, that left both us and our guests speechless.
Moments of true gastronomic pleasure followed, during a dinner that was fabulously prepared by the hotel’s chef and paired with the unique Douro wines. As expected, in the end, all guests were able to taste Port wine that could only have come directly from Bacco’s lands.
This intimate wedding in Douro Valley was really a big challenge for our entire team, but very rewarding, because we we don’t just hold a wedding, but we provide true experiences for all the guests. We didn’t doubt for a second that it was all worth it.
